The Q Resident Of the Quarter - Javier Ortega

The Q is proud to be the home of choice for many unique, creative and accomplished individuals. So proud, that we decided to dedicate a blog post to the Resident of the Quarter from our community every three months. In this first quarter of 2019 that person is Javier Ortega.

Javier Ortega’s music emphasizes a straightforward, pure musical expression of harmony and chord movement, an approach he perfected in a 14 month retreat in South America.

Javier, an accomplished singer/songwriter/guitarist, and his girlfriend Jey made the Q @ Nob Hill their home in September of 2018. Javier, native to Albuquerque, played his music to great applause at our resident holiday party in December.

Taking a unique and courageous approach, Ortega and his all-star band recorded his newest album “Ten Years in a Day” live in front of 120 of his closest friends and family.  One of the band members, drummer Mark Clark, recorded with the likes of Cat Stevens and has shared some of the most illustrious stages in the world with folks like Huey Lewis and Ottmar Liebert. The album is available on iTunes and Spotify.

Currently, Javier can be seen as lead guitar and background vocals to local jam-band Pherkad and playing solo, duo, and trio acoustic sets throughout NM.

Come one, come all to his next two performances Feb 9 at the Canteen Taproom, 417 Tramway Blvd NE, and Mar 2 at Marble Westside, 5740 Night Whisper Rd NW.
